Precision Stainless-Steel Façade Manufacturing for an Australia MRT Project
JZM Facade recently completed the manufacture of bespoke 316L stainless-steel façade components for an MRT infrastructure project in Australia.
The project required tight dimensional control across large-format members, complex cross-sections, and high-quality architectural finishes. To meet these requirements, JZM Facade combined advanced automation with a customized and closely controlled manufacturing process.
High-Precision Fabrication Requirements
The components were manufactured to demanding tolerances, including:
- ±0.5 mm dimensional accuracy across complex cross-sections
- Maximum deflection of 1 mm per metre
- Overall allowable tolerance of only 4 mm across the largest 6-metre-long member
Maintaining this level of accuracy across long stainless-steel sections required careful control throughout cutting, welding, finishing, and inspection.
Controlled Manufacturing Process
JZM Facade’s production process incorporated:
- High-accuracy laser cutting
- Customized hybrid welding
- Controlled heat input to minimize stress and distortion
- Automated weld-seam grinding and finishing
- Automated precision polishing
- Strict dimensional inspection and quality-control procedures
By integrating these processes, JZM Facade was able to maintain dimensional consistency while achieving the surface quality required for architectural applications.
Managing Distortion in Large Stainless-Steel Components
Large stainless-steel façade components can be particularly sensitive to heat-related distortion during welding.
For this project, JZM Facade used controlled welding procedures and automated production methods to manage deformation while maintaining the required geometry of the finished components.
This was especially important given the size of the members and the tight tolerances specified across the full component length.
Automation Supporting Consistency
Robotic automation played an important role in supporting repeatability and production control.
JZM Facade’s manufacturing environment combines automated welding, grinding, polishing, handling, and precision fabrication processes to support complex project-specific components.
For this project, technologies from Yaskawa and KUKA supported the automated manufacturing process, helping JZM Facade maintain consistency across fabrication and finishing operations.
Built for Demanding Infrastructure Applications
The completed components demonstrate JZM Facade’s ability to manufacture large-format stainless-steel façade elements where dimensional accuracy, surface consistency, and deformation control are critical.
This project reflects JZM Facade’s broader capability in supporting international façade and infrastructure projects with:
- Complex bespoke fabrication
- High-precision steel and stainless-steel manufacturing
- Automated production
- Controlled quality processes
- Project-specific manufacturing to drawings and specifications
The video provides a closer look at the manufacturing approach, automation, precision control, and finished stainless-steel components produced for the project.

Precision Meets Scale: JZM’s Engineering Excellence at the Beijing International Convention & Exhibition Center
The Beijing International Convention & Exhibition Center stands as one of China’s most advanced architectural landmarks — and JZM played a defining role in bringing it to life. Through precision steel engineering, robotic automation, and world-class finishing, JZM delivered curtain wall components that combine aesthetic mastery with uncompromising structural performance.
Engineering Challenge
Spanning thousands of square meters of façade surface, the project required high-precision curtain wall steel assemblies capable of supporting complex architectural geometries.
Each component had to meet GB national standards, while maintaining a flawless surface finish and exceptional dimensional accuracy — all within a compressed construction timeline.
Our Solution
JZM deployed its robotic hybrid welding systems, coupled with automated surface treatment and finishing lines, to ensure perfect consistency across all assemblies.
Through real-time monitoring and digital fabrication tracking, every panel was validated for geometry, weld integrity, and tolerance levels before dispatch.
This project showcased JZM’s ability to integrate advanced manufacturing with architectural design, delivering both visual appeal and engineering reliability.
Impact
The Beijing International Convention & Exhibition Center now stands as a symbol of modern engineering precision, where technology, design, and sustainability converge. JZM’s contribution demonstrates how digital manufacturing and compliance-driven engineering can transform complex construction into scalable, reliable outcomes.
We are proud to be at the forefront of intelligent steel fabrication and facade engineering in China, delivering reliable and sophisticated solutions for both domestic and international markets.
